In Mauritius, the turquoise lagoon of Mahebourg serves as a setting for the island of Aigrettes, also called Island of the Deux Cocos. The 25-hectare limestone is classified as a nature reserve in the sixties and is then managed by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, a Mauritian non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to the conservation of threatened endemic animals and plants. Aigrettes or Cocos, which is usually included in the program of excursions to the hotels of the place, are offered by many providers.
